Federated Login for Google Account Users

I have been working on a prototype for using the Federated Google Account login that uses the OpenID 2.0 standard. Really a nice concept to offer for users who are heavy users of Google, Yahoo or other 3rd party service providers that have adopted OpenID. I am proposing offering a Login Using Google button on all our public application logins which then send a request to Google and allows the user to authenticate our domain(s) under their Google Account. Then they can utilize...

Building a Platform in the Clouds

I am currently taking a company and reconstructing its entire server and infrastructure platform to operate in the clouds. It is a lot of planning, work and just readjustment in thinking on how to deploy a server infrastructure. However it is so worth it. It is such a more scalable and resilient platform than depending on your own server infrastructure. I will be outlining more about how and why I am doing this as I get time. Its been a while since I posted because I h...

Eclipse IDE

I have been using a combination of Dreamweaver and Notepad to do my code editing for a few years now. I use Dreamweaver because of employers mandating it mostly. I really don't like the application, or use many of the features. With my new role at WebEvents Global I started using Homesite which I don't much care for either. A couple developers are using Eclipse, so in order to support it I went ahead and downloaded it. Only using for 30 minutes now and I love it. It is really ...

Google Apps for My Domain - Gmail Contacts

Playing around and organizing my Google Contacts under my Google Apps for Your Domain account. Wish they would have collaboration features in here to share with the rest of my co-workers. Seems like I could have more sharing features with other users within the domain to provide a more CRM for your domain feel. I have contact information I would like to share with others, and get some of their contact information. Get to work on it please Google. Thank you.

Social Network Signup

So I just signed up for a family social network my mom sent to me. I clicked on link which provided me a simple email / password signup. I signed up and immediately it had thumbnail for me from my Ning profile. Is this good? Does it enforce the fact I should keep my Ning profile up to date and relevant to all relationships?

Wiki Publishing

I have used several wiki environments to develop projects and provide oversight for several social media marketing campaigns. I am currently using Google Sites pretty heavily for writing several books and for building my strategy for work. I spend a great deal of time cultivating and gardening the wiki to keep up to date and keep my overview. I would like a simple publish or build feature allowing me to choose from Sitemap which sections and pages I would like to publish and h...

Moving on in life...

I have been through some major changes lately. Feel like I am really moving on into the 2nd half of my life. (Mid-Life...don't like that?). Anyways I recently went through a divorce with my wife Ishbel. I am learning how to spend time with my daughter Kaia both virtually, phone and in scheduled weekend times. For the first time I do not have any entrepreneurial aspirations. I have chosen to end all my business relationships I have had going with various individuals and companies and m...

Managing My Brand

So I am always working to get a better handle on how people view me and my personal brand. My brand consists of my profile, work experience, technologies, blog, pics and just the general image of how people view me personally and professionally online. Maintaining my brand is a full time job and I do not always achieve the results I want. When people look for me they usually start at Google, so this is where I start. The first two pages of Google search for my name is where ...

One Wiki to Bind them All

I have been using wikis a lot lately to layout strategy for social media marketing campaigns. Social media marketing really overlaps into a lot of different areas, some are internal and some are external. So we are designing what we call "online ecosystem" strategies for companies that help visualize all of their online virtual real estate. Using a simple wiki you can layout all the elements of your online presence from your web site and blog to your Facebook and Youtu...

Image Search

When is image search going to move past what the picture is named and more about what the picture is about. If the picture author named the picture appropriately then the picture search is valid...however most of the time the results are crap. Makes it very frustrating to search for relative pictures.

Social Application and Social Widget Advertising Integration

So was just having a random thoughts while designing a couple of social applications. I was thinking out you can build social applications that run on different platforms and work with a web service that allows various information to drive the application. So why can't you start evolving advertising to be widget based and run more like application. They would feed from any demographic or targeting data you would have on the user and feed them an intelligent and interactive ad.
