For some reason I happen to go to my
Twitter profile today. I almost never pay attention to my Twitter stream. I have moments where I pay attention using
twhirl, but for the most part I just broadcast to it without paying much attention.
So anyways I went to my profile today....saw I rolled over 1000 followers while I haven't been paying attention. Wooohoo. So exciting.
I am starting to notice my social networking profiles are taking some sort of order. This may sound a little elitist, but oh well.
My
MySpace is a place where mostly my personal contacts gather. These are friends that usually are from the more personal area of my life....dating...older high school friends. These are usually friends who aren't usually associated with my professional life in any way. Sometimes there are family members here, but most seemed to have migrated to
Facebook.
Facebook gets the most activity. It is my friends, family an co-workers. Because I am a working professional this is where I think the sweet spot in my social world exists. My mom, my boss and most people I interact with on a daily basis are here.
LinkedIn gets a lot less activity, but it is definitely only positioned around my business and professional life. My brother is here but it is because we coordinate at a business level. For the most part I only generate activity here when I answer professional questions, interact in groups, events and other professional things.
Twitter is purely a broadcast communications tool. I have over 1000 followers and don't care about organizing or cleaning them up. I just broadcast messages here.
I wouldn't want to forget my
Flickr profile. I tend to publish a visual journal of my world there....but very little interaction with the rest of my world. Its a one way street.
Just a little exploration of my social networking profiles.
